Job Title: Community Relations
Coordinator Reports to: Executive Director
Purpose of this Job
The Community Relations Coordinator
impacts three areas of community involvement and outreach for the Central
Indiana Land Trust (CILTI). First, the Community Relations Coordinator develops
and implements community education programs for the public, civic groups, youth
organizations, and special constituents.
Second, the Community Relations Coordinator recruits volunteers and
service groups and organizes their activities on CILTI preserves and for other
special projects as needed. Third, the
Community Relations Coordinator oversees all communications from CILTI such as
the webpage and newsletters, routine correspondence to members, responses to
questions from the public, and special publications for outreach projects. As a principal spokesperson for the Central
Indiana Land Trust Incorporated, the Community Relations Coordinator must
display the highest standards of professionalism, cooperation and integrity at
all times.
Responsibilities of this
Job
I. Community Education
A. Work with CILTI partners
to develop and facilitate workshops to enable cooperation and synergy among
landowners, decision-makers and the general public to recognize the need for
balancing development and conservation interests
B. Develop and distribute
materials to landowners to increase awareness of land conservation options and
strategies
C. Create and implement
outreach programs for the public, civic groups, youth organizations, and other special
constituencies to educate about the value of and reasons for natural resources
conservation
II. Volunteer Recruitment
A. Coordinate volunteer
workdays at CILTI properties, involving individuals from the surrounding
communities, service groups, and CILTI members
B. Promote and facilitate
the use of CILTI preserves as learning opportunities for students from various
educational institutions
C. Oversee the recruitment,
training, and supervising of volunteers for work within the office and for
special projects
III. Communications / Outreach
A. Coordinate the creation
and distribution of communications from CILTI, including overseeing the webpage
and electronic forums, as well as producing a quarterly newsletter, informational
brochures, and special materials for outreach projects
B. Maintain the membership
and supporter database, entering gifts and donor information, soliciting annual
renewals, and acknowledging membership donations and other gifts
C. Answer inquiries from
donors, members, partners and the public about CILTI, the organization’s
mission and its programs
D. Organize outreach
efforts through press releases, public speaking, and the distribution of
general information

Parameters of the Community
Relations Coordinator Position
Type: Full-time, Professional,
Non-supervisory
Hours: At least forty hours
per week, flexible to accommodate evening meetings, weekend workdays and
outreach events.
Pay Basis: Salaried, no overtime.
Education requirements: a Bachelors Degree

relationships among a diverse group of individuals and organization;

ability to carry on multiple tasks in an independent and unstructured work
setting;

Computer
word-processing, spreadsheet and database skills;

Excellent
oral and written communication skills;

An
outgoing, pleasant personality;
·
A
familiarity with Indiana’s natural communities of plants and animals is
desirable.
